Debra Everman is a crook in my opinion. In my opinion Debra Everman of the Everman Law Offices in Boise Idaho is unscrupulous and unethical. This is the Debra Everman of the Everman Law Offices in Boise, ID. Debra Everman was the legal counsel I hired to aid me in the prosecution of a civil case I had previously started. I opened the case and filed all the needed paperwork and just needed a lawyer to show up for the court hearing, as the state provided a public defender for the defendant
I was prosecuting, and I am felt vulnerable without the same.
Debra Everman took my retainer and then failed to show up at the court hearing. The judge told me that he had received representation paperwork from Debra Everman and questioned why she was not there. He excused us from the docket that day, as he did not feel it was appropriate for me to continue without my counsel, and I was forced to make a settlement offer to the defendant. My children’s safety was dependant on the outcome of the trial and I couldn't wait another six months to get
back on the docket to see that they were protected.
Debra Everman displayed gross negligence and put my children at great risk by not showing up to court and ruining the trial for me. I spent hours collecting evidence and preparing for the trial. Debra Everman then bills me almost $1,100 to draft and file a modification. I already had the modification drafted and only asked that Debra Everman, of the Debra Everman Law Offices in Boise Idaho, add a conditional dismissal clause. This is a clause that needed to be added because I had to
make a settlement agreement, after Debra Everman didn’t show up for the hearing I hired Everman Law Offices for. Debra Everman is billing as if she spent hours preparing my modification. I already had a modification prepared and asked that she include the same conditions in the new modification. Again, the only change that needed to be made was the conditional dismissal for which she was the direct cause.
I could have gotten the same modification drafted by a legal document preparer for $200. Had I know that my legal counsel was going to be so indigent, I would have done so. Debra Everman, of the Everman Law Offices in Boise, ID, grossly overcharged for services that she was the cause of. I had all the documents filed and prepared in the case, with the exception of the new modification with the conditional dismissal. All she had to do was show up, and she failed.
I have to wonder, was this unscrupulous and unethical lawyer really working for the defendant that I was trying to prosecute. Is Debra Everman so shallow and sexist that she was throwing my case and gouging me because I was a successful man that had custody and care of my children? Does Debra Everman hate all men, or just successful responsible men?
She bills for telephone call length that I have never spent on the phone with anyone for business. If she had drawn the papers the way I asked her to the first time, we wouldn’t have even needed to be on the phone. I asked her through five drafts to include those things that I had in my original modification. It took five drafts before she finally got it all in there.
Debra Everman then is asking me to pay for a consultation that she had with the opposing party. I arranged for the other party to go into her office and sign the papers. Who in their right mind thinks that it is ethical to bill their client to sit down and talk with the opposing party? There was nothing that needed to be said, she had already agreed to everything weeks prior to that. The only thing that needed to be done was to have her sign the papers. Then to turn around and bill
me for a 45 minute chat she had with the person I was prosecuting in the case that Debra Everman botched is ludicrous.
This is all in excess of the lack of professionalism that Debra Everman and her paralegal/assistant displayed. When I had papers dropped off to Everman Law Offices in Boise Idaho, the deliverer would tell me how shocked that they were that it looked like Debra and her assistant had just got out of bed and were walking around in their pajamas. I personally discovered this as I would drop into the Everman Law Offices. Hiring Debra Everman to represent me was a massive mistake and I am
warning you, for the sake of your case, not to take the chance. Indigence and insolence are the only things that come to mind when I think of Debra Everman and the Everman Law Offices in Boise Idaho. Trying to sue me because I am going to file a complaint with the Idaho Bar. I won’t be surprised if she tries to bring suit because I am letting people know. If she spent more time practicing law instead of using it to clean up her messes, she might be able to develop some skill and professionalism.
